The Handcrafted Kombucha Kit
In late 2016 with our sluggish bodies full of holiday beer, we began discussing opportunities to create a kit that would not only fuel our desire to ferment, but something that would also ease us into 2017 on a healthier note. Out of that conversation came an incredible kombucha kit that was different from our other offerings, yet still in line with what Box Brew Kits is all about. As occassional kombucha drinkers already, we dove deep into what makes the tangy, tart and somewhat mysterious probiotic beverage so tasty, so healthy and so revered by those who drink it.
After building several prototypes and testing myriad tea blends for the drink itself, we're proud to offer you our beautiful (inside and out) kombucha kit, complete with everything you need to brew and bottle your own kombucha tea. Inside you'll find a 64 oz. mason jar, two 16 oz. cobalt blue bottles, enough black, oolong and green tea blends for 3 batches of delicious kombucha, as well as other odds and ends you'll need during brewing. Don't worry about not knowing how to brew just yet. Our instructions are very clear and will help you through every step of the process.
The kit itself is constructed right here in Massachusetts from pine and plywood that delivers a rustic look that doesn't sacrifice durability. The kit also features your choice of several brew or kombucha themed graphics that are painted right onto the front door of the kit. During fermentation, the fermenter can stay inside the kit with the door closed to keep sunlight out. After fermentation, you can keep the door on the kit, or slide the door completely out and use the door as a beautiful wall hanging.
Unlike some other kits, we include the SCOBY (symbiotic culture of organized bacteria and yeast) in ours! Remember that keeping your gelatinous SCOBY at the right temperature and environment is extremely important to its health. An unhealthy SCOBY means no kombucha! We source our SCOBYs from our friends Ruthie and Jerry over at Fermentaholics. Their SCOBYs are super healthy, and brew excellent kombucha tea.
So don't wait! Get healthy, get cultured, and get brewing kombucha! And if you ever have any questions about your brew, you can always check out our robust kombucha FAQs right here!
